ABOVE: Hailing from Corozal, Miss Leila Pandy is leading Belize's hopes for the Miss Universe title June 1st in Ecuador.

QUITO, Ecuador, Tues. May 25: With a mixture of ethnicities that includes Carribean, African, Mayan, Latin, British, and East Indian, Miss Belize 2004, Leila Pandy, is truly representative of her country and the region.

At 23, the 5’9” doe-eyed beauty is currently a student of marine biology at the University of Belize but for now, she is eyeing the title of Miss Universe 2004.

She describes herself as “earthy,” and names her niece Kimara as the one other person who has influenced her life, apart from her parents. Pandy is a resident of Corozal Town and comes from a family of four.

The 53rd Miss Universe 2004 competition will be held on June 1 and broadcast live on NBC television at 9 PM.
