What’s the dating scene like in Belize? For singles traveling to Belize or even those in a relationship but looking, Belize offers the chance of adventure and variety like few others. Belize has a small population and you might have to look a little bit harder for a date and romance, compared to say neighboring Honduras or Guatemala.
The beauty of Belize however lies in the variety of cultures ranging from Latino, to Lebanese, German, African, and a variety of ethnic groups. Belize has a growing population of immigrants from Central America, mainly Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador so you will find many Latinas here – this adds to the rich variety of cultures found in Belize. The latest population estimate is that over 70 per cent of Belize is Latino.

Belizeans like to party and generally the partying starts on Thursday. Belize City offers the largest number of nightclubs and some of the best are The Princess, The Tropicana, Club Liquid, Palm Island, Copa Cabana and MJs on the North side. Note that these fancy names may not necessarily coincide with say, the Tropicana in Cuba. The hot area in the city is the strip on Princes Margarete Drive lined with various casinos and discos. Belize City is grungy to put it mildly so caution in selecting which nightspot to patronize is advisable.
Generally speaking North Side Belize city is safer than the South Side. Our suggestion for visitors looking to party and mix with the locals is to hire a cab registered with your hotel for the night. The driver will be familiar with where to find the action you are looking for and be street wise. If you are looking to pick up a local date, any of the clubs mentioned above is a good place to start. The Cayo District is especially hot with clubs such as The Stork Club at the San Ignacio Hotel, Okis in Benque Viejo Del Carmen and Legends in Santa Elena. Belmopan has La Cabana and E and L Sports Bar. The music at these nightclubs is Central American and Caribbean influenced – Hip Hop, Dance Club and Latin Music. Most clubs are open until 2 in the morning in Belize City. Out district nightclubs are open until midnight. The biggest nightclub on Ambergris Caye is Jaguars. But there are several other but smaller establishments and most beach bars swing every night.

The Princess Hotel and Casino offers a floor show every weekend. Other establishments feature occasional floor shows featuring dancers from Central and South America. A new casino in the Corozal Free Zone also offers floor shows most nights.
Dating local girls is no different from what you expect in your own country and this is not a general dating guide, but we provide some tips for you: Urban girls are more liberal and outgoing as can be expected. In the countryside and villages more traditional dating practices such as bringing a chaperone along are common.
The best advice we can give is to allow enough time to look around, mix a lot and be bold. Belizeans have a reputation for being very polite and sometimes shy of visitors. For those experienced in the nightclub scene, every municipality in Belize has one or more nightclubs. Here you will encounter a wide range of party goers, from bank workers, and public service managers, but also everyday girls seeking to unwind from domestic weekday duties or looking for a new date or boyfriend.
More fun and diversity can be found at the many village and municipal fairs held throughout the country. These include mechanical rides, fair attractions and dances. Here the full range of Belizean men and women are at the fore and arguably offer the best opportunity to meet and link up with a date. The more popular fairs are the Succotz, Benque Viejo, San Ignacio and Belmopan fairs in the West and center of Belize. The San Joaquin, Orange Walk and Corozal Fairs in the north as very popular as well. Do not pass up the municipal fairs at the towns bordering Belize.
The fairs at Melchor de Mencos and Flores in Guatemala, as well as the annual Expofer in Chetumal, Mexico offer a surfeit of different and novel opportunities for fun and meeting people. Note that popular dance clubs and social events can be hard to keep up with. One advice to consider, especially if you are a visitor, is to check the local T.V. stations for events calendars. These are usually featured on commercials before the evening news at 6:30 pm on weekdays. Special promotions, dance club specials and fairs are listed.
